Past President
(Executive Board - Voting Member)

Illinois Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers

Election/Term of Office: Bylaws, Article V, Section 6. Past President. After having served as President for one year, the Past President will remain a member of the Executive Board for one year.

Reports to: President/Executive Board
Primary Function: To act as counsel to the Executive Board and assist the President.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Attend all meetings of the Executive Board. This will require travel to the meetings which will vary in location. Expenses will be paid by IACRAO. There are three to four meetings each year.

  2. Serves as Chairperson of the Nominating Committee, which identifies candidates to fill Executive Board vacancies.  After soliciting nominations from IACRAO membership, contender names are presented to the Executive Board, then to full membership for approval.

  3. Review, and where necessary due to changes, prepare proposed changes to the Bylaws of IACRAO for presentation and approval at the annual meeting.

  4. Review and update as necessary the job descriptions of the members of the Executive Board. The job descriptions should be detailed enough so the incumbent as well as any person considering accepting the nomination to an office know what will be required during the term of office. Distribute job descriptions to new Executive Board members.

  5. Chairs the scholarship committee.

  6. Submit articles, according to established guidelines, to Editor for publication in the Chronicle.

  7. Select and assign mentors for new members/first time attendees at the annual meeting.

  8. Serve on the Contract Review Committee, a group responsible for reviewing all legal contracts and commitments for the association.

  9. Select/verify the IACRAO Annual Meeting site for the meeting to be held two years following term as Past President in consultation with the Contract Review Committee (consisting of the President, President-Elect, Past Treasurer, and Archivist).

  10. Along with the President, President-Elect, Treasurer, Past Treasurer, Communications Manager, and Website Manager, responsible for the administration of the MemberClicks system (approving Listserv notifications, updating the system, etc.).

  11. Bring archival material to the conference Executive Board meeting (or as needed) for submission to Archivist.

General: It is the primary responsibility of the Past President to act as counsel to the Executive Board and to assist the President. It is necessary for the Past President to maintain quality records and possess the necessary commitment to assist with the leadership of IACRAO.
