Message from President-Elect, Katy Saalfeld

Thank you for registering for the 2022 Annual Conference, IACRAO HOMECOMING - Cheers to 100 Years! Reflecting, celebrating, and leading IACRAO into the next century. Below are some notes to help you get prepared.

Arrival - The conference check-in will be available Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. near the East Lobby Entrance of the DoubleTree Hotel. Parking is free at the hotel. In addition, you can purchase raffle tickets, checkout the gift baskets being raffled, and turn in your submission for the Meet Your Match game (bring cash!). During check-in you will receive your nametag, lanyard, Meet Your Match playing card and submission card, two complimentary drink tickets that can be used Wednesday or Thursday night, an IACRAO 100 Year Anniversary tumbler, and your game card for the Sponsorship and Bright Ideas Activity.

Wednesday, Oct. 26
Get Ready to Tailgate – Rep something you cheer for/support all day!

Morning OAROSUI and ICCAROO will be having their fall meetings on-site in the Pine and Oak Rooms, respectively. The First-Time Attendees Luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. before the official welcome.

Afternoon - Conference will kick-off for everyone on Wednesday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. with a welcome and some exciting updates from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission highlighting the new Biden-Harris student debt relief application. After the welcome we will head right into the afternoon Breakout Session Block 1 and 2.

Evening - Shortly after these sessions wrap up, come to the Forest Ballroom for dinner and tailgating games. Be sure to play some games for a chance to win raffle tickets or drink tickets.

Thursday, Oct. 27
Rep your school day by day and Be Golden for the evening costume party!
(Costume change after dinner and before the costume party!)

Morning – Meet for breakfast in the Forest Ballroom between 7:30 and 9 a.m. Thursday Breakout Sessions Block 3 will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and Exhibit Hall will be open from 9 to 5 p.m.

Afternoon – Plan to attend lunch in the Forest Ballroom, the annual business meeting and district meetings will be held during this time. If you are a voting member it is important to attend the annual business meeting so we can meet quorum for voting. After district meetings, the afternoon breakout session blocks will pick-up. Thursday afternoon is also an opportunity to win some raffle tickets or drink tickets by visiting our amazing sponsors and Bright Ideas session.

Evening - Past-Presidents and Retirees can pick-up their invitations to their reception in the Aspen Rm. The Thursday evening reception will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner being served at 6:00 p.m. in the Forest Ballroom. Shortly after dinner it will be time to for some more entertainment with the costume party and reception. The costume contest theme is, Be Golden, and the contest will start at 8:00 p.m. Tone Productions, Inc. will be our DJ for the evening and provide a free photobooth.

Friday, Oct. 28
Casual Friday – Relax and enjoy the final sessions!

Morning - Coffee and tea will be available in Exhibit Hall before the “Birds of a Feather” sessions. These are informal sessions for each group to have discussion time. Following the morning session will be the Closing Brunch. During the Closing Brunch we will pick, 50/50 raffle prize winners, gift basket raffle winners, and Meet Your Match winners. The Closing Brunch will also include our Featured Speaker, Russ Devereaux, and a session on Embracing Anarchy.

Afternoon - IACRAO Board members will meet following the conference from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Spruce Rm.
