W. Lyle Willhite (1955-56)
W. Lyle Willhite received a bachelor of science degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology I 1935, his master of science degree form the University of Illinois in 1937 and his Ph.D. in 1941 from the University of Illinois.
Dr. Willhite served as professor of Economics and Dean of Men at Catawba College. He was on staff at Knox College from 1946 through 1957 where he was Professor of Economics and Business Administration, Chairman of the department, Dean of Students, and Registrar from 1951-57. He later joined the staff at Central Michigan University and served as the first dean of Central Michigan University’s School of Business Administration from 1960-1976 where he also developed the master’s degree of business administration in 1961.
Colleagues at CMU described Dr. Willhite as one who “took a personal interest in students,” and “He was always there to help a student regardless of the time of day, or weekend.”
Dr. Willhite was an arbitrator for the American Arbitrator’s Association, specializing in textiles and oil. He served as consultant to various business corporations.
