Edith Leifheit (1949-1950)

With three years of teaching experience under her belt, Edith Leifheit was selected for the position of Registrar at Northern Illinois University in 1938, just one year after Ms. Leifheit received her Bachelor of Education from Northern Illinois State Teacher's College. While in college she was a member of the education fraternity Kappa Delta Pi as well as the women's honor society Pleiades.

Even though she earned her degree just shortly before arriving at Northern Illinois University, Ms. Leifheit had seventeen years experience working in higher education administration. While a Northern Illinois University administrator, Ms. Leifheit participated in the New Students Week Committee and the Student Personnel Advisory Committee.

Ms. Leifheit demonstrated dedication to her professional activities and devotion to her husband and two children. She resigned from Northern Illinois University in 1957
