Eugenie Donelly Walker (1962-1963)

A 1941 graduate of Northern Illinois State Teachers College, Eugenie Donnelly Walker received a Master of Arts degree in physical education from University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1948. For a number of years Ms. Walker served public schools in and surrounding Rockford Illinois as well as those in Dekalb County.

She began her employment at Northern Illinois University in 1950 when she assumed the positions of Director of Admissions and Assistant Registrar. The following year, she added teaching to her list of responsibilities. On campus she was involved in the New Students Week Committee, the Public Relations Committee, and the student personnel Advisory Council. During her tenure in higher education Ms. Walker received such accolades as being one of Who's Who of American Women. She was honored with Northern Illinois University's Alumni Association Outstanding Service Award.

Outside of the office, Ms. Walker was an active member of her church, participated in the Stage Coach Players, and was a member of the organization of Democratic Women. Eugenie Donnelly Walker remained a loyal faculty member of Northern Illinois University for twenty-four years, and retired in 1974.
