Professional Activities Officer

Illinois Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers

Election/Term of Office: Bylaws, Article V, Section 6. Vice-President for Professional Activities. The Vice-President for Professional Activities shall be elected by the Executive Board at its regular Annual Meeting. The Vice-President for Professional Activities shall be elected for a term of two years.

Reports to: President

Primary Function: To be directly responsible for the supervision and implementation of the various professional activities of IACRAO.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Attends all Executive meetings.

  2. To assist the President in carrying out the responsibility for the continuous education of the membership on matters pertaining to performance of duties in the areas of admissions, record, and registration. Special emphasis should be given to classified staff of the institutions who support the professionals holding managerial positions at the school.

  3. To oversee and/or coordinate workshops, seminars, training sessions, and conferences sponsored by IACRAO, IACRAO districts, or an IACRAO committee.

  4. To coordinate the professional activities of the IACRAO district organization through the district chairs.

  5. To appoint, in consultation with the district chairs, members to professional activities committees, as required and established by the Executive Board.

  6. Submit articles, according to the established guidelines, to editor for publication in the Chronicle.

  7. Coordinates the call for "Bright Ideas" and serves as Chairperson to the selection committee.

  8. Serves as Legislative Liason for organization by providing a summary and status report of pertinent bills related to Higher Education that are being considered and/or have disposed of by the state legislature.

  9. Bring archival material to February Board meeting for submission to archivist.

  10. Prepares the membership form each May.

  11. Sends updated membership form to webmaster to put on the website.

  12. Sends email message to membership each May to renew.

General:

It is the primary responsibility of the Vice-President for Professional Activities to supervise and implement the various professional activities of IACRAO.

It is necessary for the Vice-President to be sensitive to the professional needs of IACRAO's district organizations and the individual membership. It is also important to keep current contact with the national association and programs it is offering on professional development.

It is also necessary for the Vice-President to remain current on higher education legislation matters that affect the membership and provide a summary of such legislation on a regular basis through the organization's newsletter.
