Illinois Community College Admissions
And Records Officers Organization
Purpose
ICCAROO is a professional organization which:
Provides a vehicle for better communication
among Illinois community college admissions and records officers.
Provides a forum for discussing common
issues
uniquely related to the functions performed by Illinois community
college
admissions and records officers.
Fosters the professional development of
admissions and records personnel in public Illinois community colleges.
History
ICCAROO was officially formed in 1973 so
public
Illinois community college admissions and records officers would have
a forum to voice mutual concerns, share ideas, improve communications
and provide for professional development. A constitution
was adopted and a full slate
of officers was elected in 1975. Details about the history, past presidents, past meetings, and constitution are
available on the left side of web page.
Membership
ICCAROO institutional membership is open to
professionals employed by an Illinois public community college who have
the responsibility for some functional aspect of admissions and/or
records and are interested
in the organization’s activities.
Dues for 2010-2011 are $40 per
year per college.
Each college would identify the primary contact in admissions and
records
to act as the institutional member. There is no additional charge for
individual professional members. There is no limit to the number of
members
representing an institution.

Benefits
Each term the ICCAROO Enrollment Flash gives
the
latest enrollment figures at community colleges across the state. The
Flash is an excellent resource which gives up-to-date enrollment
comparisons
across the state on a timely basis. Access ICCAROO Enrollment Flash instructions here.
A "Birds of a Feather" in-depth discussion
session
is arranged prior to the annual Illinois Association of Collegiate
Registrars
and Admissions Officers (IACRAO) Conference. Members are encouraged to
share issues, concerns, and conduct informal and formal surveys and
research.
The ICCAROO listserv
is an excellent resource to help search out answers to questions,
procedures, and general information. As a paying member of the ICCAROO organization, the members will be added to the listserv and can send a message to the listserv at iccaroo@iccb.state.il.us.
ICCAROO offers several professional
development
opportunities. Members are encouraged to take advantage of leadership
development by participating as an officer on the board of directors.
There are also opportunities to participate as a presenter at annual
conferences.
An ICCAROO member is elected as our
representative
to attend the Illinois Council of Community College Administrators
(ICCCA)
meetings. Our representative is on the ICCCA Executive Committee and is
the Admissions and Records Commission Representative for ICCCA
activities
and issues.
Conferences
Conferences are held three times a
year-fall, spring and summer. The fall meeting is held in conjunction
with the annual IACRAO conference. The spring meeting is a time for
renewal
and sharing which is hosted by community colleges throughout the state.
The summer meeting has built in time for fun and relaxation, as well as
professional development. Summer meetings are held where recreation can
be part of the agenda along with enjoying the good times, with a
special
group of highly effective ICCAROOans. Business meetings are held three
times a year at the time of each conference.
Invitation to be an active member
ICCAROO members have always been "open" to
engaging
in discussions and sharing. Members are proud to be known as
professional
and "friendly" ICCAROOans.
